History tour

It's that time of year again when the weather has turned a bit chilly but there is not enough snow to hit the slopes quite yet. Why not go on a history tour?
Many historical venues exist in both the Ogden Valley and the city of Ogden itself and all help to share a bit of history about these wonderful places.
Starting in Huntsville there are four different places that can be visited:
  • The Huntsville History Library is open Wednesday's from 10am to 12pm and is manned by a staff of three volunteers who can tell you quite a bit about the towns history.
  • The David O McKay home is closed for the season but can still be viewed around the outside.
  • The Robert F.Aldous cabin is also closed for the season but can also be viewed around the outside.
  • The Huntsville Veterans monument is located inside the town cemetery itself.
For more information on any of the above visit the website at  http://huntsvilletown.com/huntsville-history-library/

Three different places in Eden utah come to mind.
  •  First being the old General Store once owned and ran by the Peterson family. A tex mex restaraunt named Carlos and Harley's now occupies the old general store but a lot of the old fixtures and charm remains.

  •  Across the street from the old general store at the corner of Eden Park is a monument explaining the history of Eden and how it came to be.
  • And in a third direction is the old blacksmith shop which still bears the name J.M. Wilbur.

Come back next week for a continuation of this post where we list the many, many historical venues in Ogden and even some rumors that have been speculated about for years.
